EuroLiteraTur / multimedia exhibition

At the National Romanian Literature Museum has been opened the first interactive multimedia exhibition on a literary theme in Romania. The access to this exhibition is free, and the visitors will be able to read directly from the kiosk-touch systems the information regarding various Romanian and foreign writers, and also to listen to literary audio-fragments and watch movies based on literary works.

Furthermore, the data base includes photos, biographical dates, and the presented information can be instantly translated into several European languages such as Czech, Polish or Greek.

The literature encompassed within this huge application covers an important timeline of the European culture development, from Antiquity up to the 20 th century. The selection was very strictly made, thus important writers were not included in the data base, and the chosen ones are canonic figures. Also, between 16 th and 23 rd of February, the visitors can watch movies based on literary works, which will be projected in the museum.

EuroLiteraTur was made possible through the implication of the European Commission with the support of its Culture 2000 Programme.

Starting with the end of February, the exhibition will be itinerated in Athens, Saragossa, Rome, Lodz and Prague, thus accomplishing a symbolic reunion of cultural capitals - Saragossa has this status without being also the state capital - and of the culture and literature of these countries.

The project consists of an interactive and multimedia exhibition, including: photos (of writers, books, manuscripts etc.); audio and video recordings (movies, interviews, music and poetry recitals, theatre performance etc.); literary-historical data; e-books. This project implies a modernly designed vision of the display and a multilingual approach, using digital multimedia technology.

Starting with the 16 th of February 2005, we will keep it open for the " target groups" every week, from Tuesday until Sunday , between 10 o'clock AM and 6 o'clock PM; the access to this exhibition is free.

Between 16 and 23 February 2005, the exhibition will also include projections of representative movies, based on literary works, selected by each partner country.

You will embark in an exciting journey through the virtual world of the European literature. An unconventional interactive approach of the exhibition's discourse. A journey where the abstract vehicle called imagination melts into the concrete world of computers and multimedia technology.
